Hingston Publishing Co. (a partnership) only collects and uses personal data to fulfil book orders, and to communicate with people as relevant to our books, book projects, and our business.
Why we value your privacy: We value your privacy as much as we do our own, so we’re committed to keeping your personal and business information safe. We’re uncomfortable with the information companies, governments, and other organisations keep on file, so we ask for only the bare minimum from our customers.
We’ll never use your personal information for any reason other than why you gave it, and we’ll never give anyone access to it unless we are forced to by law.
How we collect information: We ask for contact information including your name, email address, and phone number, on our website so that we can reply to your enquiry. We also ask for your contact information when you buy a book from us. Our website doesn’t use cookies or scripts that are designed to track the websites you visit.
What information we hold: When you contact us by email or through our website, we might collect your name, email address and phone number. When you buy a book from us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and a delivery address. All online purchases are processed by an off site ecommerce platform like Stripe and we don’t have access to your card information.
Where we store your information: When you contact us by email or through our website, we store your information in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. When you order a book online, your information is stored in our ecommerce platform. We chose these systems partly for their commitment to security.
What we use your information for: We will use your information to send you books you order, respond to queries, and any required information about transactions you make with us, or in the course of our book projects or business.
To fulfil book orders we use the Royal Mail or couriers. We may also need to share information with our accountants and HMRC.
We do not have mailing lists.
Phone/Mail Order: Due to increasing card security we regret we are no longer able to take an order over the phone or by post using a card for payment. However, we can still take payment by posting us a cheque. Please phone us for price and address information.
Who’s responsible for your information at our business: We are responsible for the security of your information. You can contact us by email here or use the contact form or phone numbers below if you have any concerns about the information we store.
Who has access to information about you: When we store information in our own systems, only the people who need it have access. We use standard security protocols to keep your information and ours safe.
Overseas Orders: We generally do not despatch books to addresses outside the UK, or take orders from outside the UK.
Refunds: On receipt of a book, if you are dissatisfied, please return the book within 14 days for a refund, provided the book has not been written on.
Links: We are not responsible for any third party websites to which we might offer links, and how they might use your personal data, though we first checked they had Privacy Policies.
How to complain: We take complaints very seriously. If you’ve any reason to complain about the ways we handle your privacy, or anything else about our relationship with you, please contact us by phone, email here or use the contact form below.
Changes to the policy: If we change the contents of this policy, those changes will become effective the moment we publish them on our website.
